CALM's creative director, Corban Lundborg, was commissioned by Western Carolina University to create a mural of the Smoky Mountains using recycled materials. The artwork is featured in the entrance of their brand new University Center. Corban's art is a representation of the mountain-scape that surrounds the university.
The artwork was created at Corban's home studio in Atlanta, Georgia and then transported up to North Carolina by trailer. He used recycled pallet wood to create the sky, plywood and OSB for the mountains and accented with scrap metal. A re-used sign was mounted in the corner to lead students into the UC. Corban's brother Ian Lundborg, a wood-worker based in Duluth, Minnesota flew down to help with the final installation.
